Job Description

This role leads Cable Landing Stations (CLS) and Outside Plant (OSP) Operations for the South region, overseeing owned build CLS, consortium projects, third-party colocation, and all OSP infrastructure. Responsibilities include ensuring a smooth transition from build to operations, managing quality acceptance, and overseeing go-live within Google’s NOC. Collaboration with suppliers, partners, providers, customers, and internal teams is crucial. The role focuses on network availability, reliability, infrastructure optimization, customer experience, and operational excellence across facilities. Managing a third-party field service agreement, coordinating maintenance (PFE, Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC), leading preventative and reactive maintenance activities, running inspections, and liaising with external parties are key tasks. The role also involves stakeholder communication, budget management, process optimization, and team oversight to ensure successful completion of maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering
  • 8 years program management experience
  • Operational facilities management experience
  • Manage third-party field service agreements
  • Lead CLS and OSP operations
  • Ensure smooth transition from build to operations
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in relevant Engineering
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects
  • Submarine cable systems operational experience
  • Excellent budget, agreement negotiation, time management skills

Job Details


Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in operational facilities management services.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, Reliability Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience operating submarine cables systems including marine maintenance, cable landing station maintenance, and Network Operation Center coordination.
  • Excellent budget management, agreement negotiation, time management and organizational skills.

In this role, you will lead Cable Landing Stations (CLS) and Outside Plant (OSP) Operations for the South region, overseeing all aspects of owned build CLS, consortium-led projects, third-party colocation, and all OSP and infrastructure. You will ensure transition from build to operations, managing the quality acceptance process and overseeing the go-live within Google’s central Network Operations Center (NOC). You will collaborate with key suppliers, consortia partners, telecom providers, customers, and internal teams across central operations, networks, finance, and regulatory, you will drive network availability and reliability. You will also focus on optimizing infrastructure performance, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and ensuring operational excellence across facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a third-party field service agreement site-based offering and delivering Technical Operations Managers, facility and Network technicians to support Google Cable Landing Stations (gCLS) across South Pacific.
  • Coordinate proactive and reactive maintenance works (PFE, Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, general facilities) for all CLSs in the APAC region.
  • Lead all preventative and reactive maintenance activities, run regular inspections and liaison with external parties in case of infrastructure threatening or effecting works.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about current work and discuss tactical decisions and directions with them. Manage budget, optimize process, continuous improvement and development.
  • Oversee technical and program team leads through the successful completion of required maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to maintain equipment to our global standard.
